ATTENTION:
Our 2021 season has been great so far! SUBA has seen a significant amount of growth over the last several years. This has been great as we have all had the opportunity to meet and fish with new people. Growth can also be challenging. With new members signing up each month, we have decided to provide some additional information that may clear up some questions for new members and help club officials run tournaments more efficiently moving forward.
GENERAL TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES:
Before the tournament:
We are requesting that each team check in with the tournament director/president by the Tuesday evening before the tournament. This can be done by a phone call and/or text message. A random drawing will take place on Wednesday of that week to determine your team’s boat number. It is important to remember this number as we will use it throughout that tournament for purposes of launching order, weigh-in’s and fish release. If you do not check in prior to the tournament, your team will still be allowed to fish the tournament, however; your number will be at the bottom of the list, based on the order you checked in.
During the tournament:
Due to Utah’s specific rules/regulations and slot limits regarding smallmouth and largemouth bass; SUBA is required to run our tournaments different and the traditional “5 Bass Limit”. Here are some general guidelines for all tournaments taking place Sand Hollow, Quail Creek or Gunlock Reservoir (unless otherwise stated).
• Each tournament will consist of two weigh-in’s.
• Each team will be allowed to weigh-in two (2) bass at each weigh-in.
• The total, combined weight of both weigh-in’s will determine each teams place for that tournament
• All fish must be released alive immediately following each weigh-in (See Rules)
• If a team is found to have kept any fish following the weigh-in and release period; they will be disqualified from that tournament, as well as receive future punishment as designated by club officials.
• If a team fails to release their fish in front of a designated tournament official, they will automatically receive a dead fish penalty for those fish not released per protocol.
• The individual releasing the teams fish will be asked to review and initial the release sheet. This should be legible. If the sheet is not initialed. The team will receive a dead fish penalty as stated above. Making sure you initial the sheet in your responsibility, not club officials.
*** I know this is a lot of information, however; it should hopefully help clear up some common questions or mis-understandings we have had in the past.
